First published in 1975...

The Fyfield Focus was first published in 1975 after the then Vicar, Peter Turner, proposed the idea of a monthly newsletter that could be delivered to every house in the village. The first issue covered both sides of a foolscap sheet, detailed church services and village events, and it was free to all villagers. Sponsors have helped fund the Focus since the earliest issues. Production subsequently passed to Mrs Knife, who changed the format to an A5 booklet. Pat Dain took over as Editor of the Focus in 1985, with the key help of Helen Coote, and Pat Turnpenny took over from her in 1990.  She was persuaded by husband Brian to put her computer to work and electronically format the Focus. By this time the Focus was some 20 pages long and contained articles from all village organisations. With a handful of advertisers now helping fund the production of the Focus, current team member Sally Walden stepped into Pat’s shoes from October 1997. In 2004 Katharine Perry stepped up and volunteered her services to the Focus, with Sally stepping back (but not for long). In February 2013, Cheryl and Ian Hadley took over the reins, building further on the success of our community magazine.

Now, in 2020, a team of five volunteers help produce, edit and manage the bi-monthly production of the Fyfield Focus, with contributions from all groups in the village we reach each home care of a team of nearly 20 deliverers.

The Fyfield Focus is proud to be a local non-for-profit bi-monthly magazine, by the local community for the local community.
